Dzień dobry!
My name is Maryam, and I want to share one of the most amazing experiences of my life—my Erasmus journey in Poland.

In the spring semester of 2024–2025, I studied at Powiślańska University in the beautiful city of Gdańsk. This university has campuses in different cities across Poland, and that helped me to meet students from many different places. As a finance student, I gained a more international perspective on my field. The university gave me the chance to learn not only from books but also from people from around the world.
Gdańsk is a very beautiful and historical city. It’s located on the Baltic Sea and has a rich past. One very important historical fact is that World War II began in Gdańsk, at a place called Westerplatte. Being in this city helped me feel closer to European history. I walked through the streets filled with colorful buildings, old architecture, and stories from the past.I also learned some basic Polish. It was fun and useful in daily life.

One of the coolest experiences I had was walking from Gdańsk to the nearby city of Sopot. It was the first time in my life that I crossed from one city to another just by walking. The distance wasn’t long, but because of Gdańsk’s great location and my friends, the experience was amazing. On sunny weekends, I was visiting nearby cities, making small trips that helped me relax, discover new places, and enjoy the beautiful nature of Poland.
Poland has amazing nature! I fell in love with its lakes, forests, and peaceful towns. During my Erasmus, I visited five different cities in Poland, including Gdańsk. Each one had its own charm and beauty. Gdańsk made it easier for me to travel, and I had the chance to explore seven countries during my exchange. Every trip gave me a new memory and a new lesson.
One of the best parts of Erasmus was the international friendships I made. I met people from many different countries. Some of them became like my family. Now, I feel like I have a home in every corner of the world. We shared food, stories, laughter, and sometimes even tears. These connections are the most valuable part of my Erasmus experience.
During my Erasmus, I also worked on improving both my soft and hard skills. I attended several university events, which helped me grow personally and professionally. These events were a great way to network, meet new people, and get inspired by others. I also had the chance to connect with amazing professors who were always ready to help and support us. I learned many valuable things from them, not only related to finance but also about life and career development. This experience helped me build more confidence and become more open-minded in both academic and social settings.
Gdańsk gave me so much more than a semester abroad. It gave me memories, friendships, and a new view of life. It also helped me improve myself as a finance student by learning in an international environment and seeing different perspectives in my field.

Gdańsk, see you soon and thank you for being my second home.
