Spending one academic year in Bragança as an Erasmus+ double degree student in Informatics Engineering has been one of the most life-changing experiences of my life.

At first, the idea of moving abroad was overwhelming. However; I took the risk, stepped out of my comfort zone, and grew in ways I never expected.

The city of Bragança became a second home with its peaceful atmosphere, kind people, and beautiful landscapes. The local community was always warm and welcoming, which helped me adapt faster.

Academically, it was a challenging but rewarding year. I had the chance to learn from experienced professors and work on different projects that strengthened both my technical and teamwork skills. Every task, every late-night assignment, taught me something new.

Beyond the classroom, Erasmus+ gave me the opportunity to travel new countries, and experience cultures. I made friends from all around the world. We shared stories, celebrated our traditions, and even cooked our national dishes together.

This journey was more than just studying abroad. It was about becoming more confident, independent, and open-minded. I arrived as a student — and I’m leaving as a stronger, more experienced version of myself.

To anyone thinking about taking this step: don’t be afraid. It might be difficult at first, but the growth, memories, and friendships you gain are truly worth it.
