The XVIII Summit Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 25-26 October 2019. As the host country of the event, the Republic of Azerbaijan organized the first-ever Youth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement on 24-25 October 2019.

40 young people representing 40 different NAM Member States attended this event. The participants were divided into three groups, each dedicated to one of the “three pillars” of the United Nations: Peace and Security, Human Rights, and Sustainable Development.

 

Three students from Khazar University participated in this event, they are Alif Paramardhika Putera from Indonesia, John Ayomide Arogun from Nigeria, and Tatenda Melody Mudara from Zimbabwe. They were active in the discussion preparing a number of recommendations. Later all groups gathered together to agree on the unifield list of recommendations to be presented by the NAM Youth to the Heads of State and Government.

 

On the following day, the participants had a Baku city tour. At first, they headed to Botanical Garden, together with International Dialogue for Enviromental Action (IDEA), an Enviromental Conservation Organization, planting trees on the garden. Then they went to old city, visiting many hitorical places.
